Origin: Axis Deer, also known as Chital, are native to the country of India. They were introduced into the Texas Hill Country in the 1940s.​

Characteristics: Axis are identified by their auburn hide with white spots, throat patch and underside.

Season: Can be hunted year round but May-August offer the best opportunities.
