CERVUS CANADENSIS

Origin: Elk, also known as Wapiti, are native to North America.


Characteristics: Elk can be identified by their reddish brown coat with a light patch on their rump. The males are called bulls while the females are called cows. Elk bulls strip their velvet in September and shed their antlers in February.


Season: Elk may be hunted year round, but are antlered September-February
